The Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System, with medical centers in Manhattan and Brooklyn, is recruiting full-time Psychiatrists. We serve a diverse population of patients with ages from the early 20’s and up. Our modal populations are comprised of Vietnam era Veterans and a younger cohort of post-911 Veterans. We also have a growing number of female Veterans. We have many positions available, including outpatient, inpatient, telepsych, ED & moonlighting:
CONSULTATION/LIAISON (C&L): Position at Brooklyn Campus to serve as C&L psychiatrist & to assume a lead administrative position in the MH service at the Brooklyn campus. Consultation to med/surg inpatient units; average of 1-2 consults/day. Also serve as MH clinic director. Supervise 6 clinic psychiatrists, manage incoming clinic referrals & patient assignments.
ED: Work as the psychiatry consultant during weekdays in a full-service ED at our Brooklyn campus. You will evaluate Veterans triaged to psychiatry for immediate treatment needs, including hospitalization on our acute inpatient psychiatric units.
OUTPATIENT: Join a multi-disciplinary team in a general MH clinic providing primarily medication management for a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Opportunities available at both Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses.
INPATIENT: Serve as a full time Attending at the Manhattan acute inpatient psychiatry/teaching unit. You will work as one of three Attendings on the 23-bed unit. Trainees on the unit include 2nd and 4th-year NYU Psychiatry Residents, NYU Medical students, and VA Psychology Interns.
MOONLIGHTING: provide psychiatric coverage for our ED’s Monday to Friday evenings and weekends. We are recruiting for both our Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses. $150.00 per hour.
Both the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses are affiliated with academic institutions (SUNY Downstate and NYU Schools of Medicine, respectively) which opportunities for teaching, mentoring, and research collaboration.
Licensure from any state is acceptable. Requires BC/BE. On-call responsibilities entail telephone attending supervision of house staff, totaling approximately 14 days per year.
